My name is Raygan Barrett. I'm the owner of Picassos Art Studio.
I have always known that I wanted to be an artist in some way. As a child, I loved to draw and color. I used to get in trouble in school for always doodling during class. Later, in middle school, I volunteered during study halls in the art room. This is where I learned about different supplies and mediums. In high school, my love of art grew, as I was able to explore different types of art like ceramics, painting, etc. My art teacher encouraged me to apply for a scholarship at The Columbus College of Art & Design. And so I did.
After graduating from CCAD, I started my career in the design industry. I loved the process of creating something and seeing it become a reality. After 19 years though, I was burnt out. I was eager to get back to my roots and create art with my hands and not on a computer. I wanted to be around other artists and I wanted to not only inspire others, but BE INSPIRED.
After a long road of ups and downs and lots of curves good and bad, I finally feel like Picassos has become what I envisioned - a place where artists and the community come together. A place where kids can explore art on their own without expectation. A place that is kid friendly, but not kiddish. A place where adults feel comfortable too. But there is still much work to do...and I'll continue to grow and evolve Picassos.
Thanks for joining me on this journey.
